Color Pareidolia (2021)

Humans and computers distinguish colors with numerical values such as RGB, CMYK, HSV, and HSL. However, these numbers do not reflect the social and cultural experiences that come to mind from seeing different colors. Therefore, artists often distinguish different colors through verbal expressions. This new color representation system, Color Pareidolia, can implicitly encode the shape of an object associated with a particular color while containing numerical information about the color. Just as people from other cultures see different shapes on the surface of the moon, Color Pareidolia is a visual experiment to discover the subtle meaning of color.
